Other State Provisions & Exemptions
- Tridem axle weight limit is 42,000 lbs.
- There are exceptions to the 80,000-lb GVW on parts of the AK-1, AK-2, and AK-3. They are subject to the Federal Bridge Formula. FBF is W = 500 (LN/N-1 + 12N + 36) where W is the gross weight of any group of two or more consecutive axles to the nearest 500 lbs, L is the distance in feet between the outer axles of any group of two or more consecutive axles, and N is the number of axles in the group being calculated.
- Alaska also determines GVW limits by the number of axle groups and spacing.
- Vehicles with the idle reduction technology can have axle, vehicle, or bridge formula weights of up to 400 lbs over the limit.
