Other State Provisions & Exemptions
  • Ohio allows for GVWs of either 115,000 or 127,400 lbs and 21,000 lbs on a single axle on certain sections of the Interstate System, specifically the Ohio Turnpike.
  • Tandem axles can add 1,000 lbs per each foot of axle spacing above 4 ft, up to 40,000 lbs for a 10-ft spacing.
  • Tridems must follow the Federal Bridge Formula when traveling on the Interstate System, but Ohio allows 48,000 lbs for tridems on non-Interstate highways.
  • Weight should not exceed 650 lbs per inch width of tire.
