Likewise, a load that is wider than 8.5 feet requires an oversize (OS) load permit, while a load wider than 12 feet necessitates escort vehicles such as flag cars. The wheel loader’s manufacturer may provide instructions on reducing the height of specific components of the machine, such as by removing roof-mounted lights or tall exhaust components.

Secure any items that could come loose during transport, and remove any extraneous items from the loader’s cab and storage bins. Ensure that any hatches, windows, and doors are closed and properly latched. Also, if poor weather conditions are in the forecast, talk with the hauler to prepare accordingly and minimize the risk of damage to your wheel loader.
